Martin Janecký was born in Liberec in 1980. Since the age of thirteen he has lived in the world of glass makers. Between 1994 -1998, he attended a secondary glass making school in Nový Bor. His excellent glass-blowing made it possible to him to work for the top designers in South Africa, Sweden, Holland and New York - he helped them create their works and thus improved his glass blowing and shaping techniques. In 2003, Martin made his first trip to United States where he demonstrated his art at the glass-making workshop in the museum of glass making in Corning - Corning Museum of Glass. Since then, he has been invited to attend glass making symposia, artistic schools and workshops so that he can share his talent with artists and glass making buffs from around the world. He specialises in glass sculpting and he teaches at selected US schools, such as Corning Museum of Glass, Penland School of Crafts, Tacoma Museum of Glass, Public Glass and Pilchuck Glass School. Martin Janecký is driven by his love for the works by František Tichý, whose clowns inspire him in creating his works. As part of this year's Smetana's creative Litomyšl he will introduce his glass works of art inspired by the motifs from Váchal's woodcuts in the book Devil's garden in Portmoneo - Museum of Josef Váchal
