The exhibition takes place on the occasion of the 200th anniversary of the birth of Maximilian Haushofer (1811 - 1866), a distinguished professor of landscape painting at the Prague Academy of Visual Arts between 1844 - 1866. His studio received a number of students, remarkable individuals, representing in a number of cases the acme of Czech landscape painting of the 19th century (Adolf Kosárek, Julius Mařák, Bedřich Havránek, Adolf Chvála, H. Ullik, A. Waldhauser and other accomplished painters). It also intends to show the unique role in the development of modern tendencies of the Czech landscape painting of the 19th century, continued two decades later by Julius Mařák.
