Milena Dopitová introduces a new installation of her images (objects from the collection “soft skills”) in the specific space of the ARCHA Cultural Centre. She established herself in the context of the strong generation of the 90s as a leading representative of the Czech contemporary visual art scene. Her works focus on social themes, handling phenomena encountered by all of us, and the theme of a positive attitude towards life. Most often in her creations she works with the media of photography, video, objects and installations..

Soft Skills was first exhibited at the author’s solo exhibition at the Polansky Gallery in Prague in 2017. The author of this collection in her own words stated: “The image is the basic building block of it, it defines and varies the possibilities of individual compositions. Tenderness, hand-crafting and patience combine and perhaps also obscure communication.”

The building of the ARCHA Culture Centre, where the exhibition takes place, is an artistic achievement of Jiří Příhoda. Under the name c-ARK it was part of Příhoda’s exhibition Sculptures (2016) at the Prague Municipal Gallery in the Troja Place. The building received an award as the best artistic work of 2016 within the activity “Umělec má cenu” (“The Artist Has a Price/Prize”).

As part of the vernissage there will be a meeting with Milena Dopitová and Jiří Příhoda.
