This exhibition for the first time maps the history of musical life in the choir of the Church of the Raising of the Holy Cross in Litomyšl and on the basis of unique preserved sources reveals the activities of local figures. Of these, still unknown and unjustly forgotten composers particularly stand out – the local organists Joseph Kopeczky and Thomas Skrživanek and choir director Jakob Zagjc. At the exhibition there are also three-dimensional artifacts documenting the normal operation of the choir at a time when music was not available at the push of a button and scores could not be lit by electricity.
A guided tour of the exhibition with the curator Jiří Mikuláš will take place on 13/8 from 4 p.m. This will be followed by the concert “Music by Organists of the Deanery Church of the Raising of the Holy Cross in Litomyšl” from 7 p.m. in the Church of the Raising of the Holy Cross.
