The exhibition will introduce the  selection from the works of an artist from Brno region, a painter, a graphic designer and a sculptor Jánuš Kubíček (1921 – 1933), which the gallery gained last year thanks to generous gift from the artist`s family.

The way of Jánuš Kubíček towards arts was from his childhood straight and clear. Thanks to outstanding family background (his father Josef and his uncle Leoš were both sculptors) was the art an integral part of his life. He was from the earliest age surrounded by the collection of moden czech art of his father and he himself started to experiment with painting and sculptural techniques. His efforts were encouraged by both his parents and friends of his family (J. Mahen, J. Trampota, F. Duša). After his studies on The School of Arts and Craft in Brno he took his own way – he studied the works of national and global art trends – he headed little by little to abstract arts, which tended to gradual reduction and transformation of natural and figural subjects together with perfect knowledge of materials and endless experimental efforts.

Apart from paintings and drawings will the exhibition introduce as well sculptures, decalks, collages, experimental graphic techniques – woodcuts, carvings, etching,  print-making technique of dry point and litography.

Under the auspices of the First Vice-Chairperson of the Senate of the Parliament of the Czech Republic, Mgr. Miluše Horská
