With this exhibition the Museum wishes to mark the 140th anniversary of the birth of the famous Czech artist whose first and currently highly regarded artistic period is associated with Kozlov. The painter used to come to this small village near Česká Třebová in 1896-1919, first as fiancé and later as husband of Ela Vejrychová. The idiosyncratic, unpretentious, yet picturesque landscape and its inhabitants charmed Švabinský and inspired him in a number of monumental works and small drawings and prints. The exhibition in Česká Třebová is offering a selection of the smaller works that depict the landscape motifs from the Kozlov district and originated in the period of 1896-1919. The exhibition will feature works from its own collection as well as prints on loan from the Museum of Max Švabinský in Kroměříž and prints and drawings from the collections of the Museum of National Literature in Prague. The exhibition is complemented by Švabinský's representative collection of figurative works assembled by the Municipal Gallery in Litomyšl. It is also connected with the exhibition in Švabinský's cottage in Kozlov near Česká Třebová.

For those interested in discovering the authentic place where Švabinský's work originated during the Kozlov period the Municipal Museum in Česká Třebová prepared visiting hours at Max Švabinský's cottage in Kozlov. On 21 - 23 June 2013 (Friday to Sunday) the cottage will be open for the public between 9 a.m. and 7 p.m. More information is available at www.mmct.cz.
